As a 7th generation native of Onslow County, I guess you could say I’m Southern born and Southern bred. Growing up on a family farm in the community of Bear Creek, my parents instilled values of family ties, hard work, and love of home. Living on the coast afforded many hours of enjoying life on the water. Locals have salt water flowing through their veins which makes it very difficult to stay away. Therefore, after graduating from North Carolina State University with a degree in Business Management, I came back home to be near family and the coast. I married my high school sweetheart and we settled into life. After the birth of our son in 1989, I closed a small business to become a mom. Having a child completely changed my view of life. Forever more, it became my goal to help him become the best person he could be. As the time for him to enter Kindergarten drew closer, we made the choice to home school. In 1997, our second blessing arrived and she completed our family. Being a mother has been the most rewarding, difficult, and awe-inspiring job I have ever had. For the past 21 years I have watched these two precious souls grow into people that I am so very proud of and am so honored to be a part of their lives. My son is now a senior at North Carolina State University double majoring in Marketing and Economics with plans of attending law school after graduation. My daughter will be entering ninth grade in the fall and is an aspiring ballerina. She has been dancing for eleven years and has performed in many local productions with Swansboro Dance Studio and with Carolina Ballet of Raleigh. My life is extremes; both simple and chaotic. At times it’s as simple as sitting on my dock with an iced cold glass of sweet tea and watching the sun set over the river. Other times it’s a chaotic rush of packing 30 hours of activities into a 24 hour day. I wouldn’t change a thing. My life….a great husband, two precious children, the love of family and friends, sunsets over the creek. I am truly blessed.
