Nicole Davies

Hello! My name is Nicole and I am a Marine spouse and mother of three daughters, ages 16, 10, and 7. I have been a stay-at-home mom most of their lives while also pursuing my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. In the past I have worked as a social worker for child welfare in the state of Pennsylvania. I have also taught preschool for ages 2.5 - 4. During my master’s program I interned as a therapist at an inpatient psychiatric hospital working with adults, teens, and kids. My ultimate goal is to become an independently licensed therapist. Our family has lived in Onslow County for 10 of the last 15 years, which has given my children a stability that is rare among military families. While NC has been my home for several years now, I am still a Yankee at heart! I will always choose a Philly cheesesteak over a pulled-pork sandwich. In addition to taking care of my family and my educational pursuits, I enjoy traveling to destinations near and far; a novel in which I can get lost; and chatting with friends over a good cup of coffee.

Softball Jamboree

Last Saturday after leaving from Ki’s game at White Oak, I had to high tail it to Kinston to see Ray play in the Jamboree. She had games at 10:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm. I was able to catch the last two games and man was it cold out there. Soraya usually plays shortstop, but this year, the coach has moved her to second base. I was hoping the transition would be good for her, and she had no problems playing second base. I will give that credit due to her AAU softball coach who made the girls learn how to play virtually every position in the field. She was comfortable and did a great job!

When the second game came around, Soraya was the first batter! That’s big time if you can be within the first 4 batters. It makes a player feel as though they’re pretty good and the coaches can depend on them to make good plays. This week we will have our first game against Dixon and her coach told her that he was thinking about allowing her to be the first batter for that game as well. Oh, and check this people, she showed some enthusiasm!

Last year we thought it was our year to win the state championship because the year prior to that, we lost in the championship. I think we have made it to the first or second round and that was it. This year we are hoping for a great season and the chance to get back to that championship. I will keep you all posted throughout the year.

Until next time family, be blessed!
